"Pakistan & Moscow: Eventful history shapes context of General Kayani's Journey"
In the context of Army Chief General Kayani's recent landmark journey to Moscow, we are pleased to reproduce an old but still partially relevant study by Senator Mushahid Hussain, Chairman, Senate Defence & Defence Production Committee, which he wrote as a journalist way back in 1981, analysing Moscow's worldview vis-a-vis Pakistan during the Cold War, and why our bilateral relations remained frozen for so long. The original series of articles appeared in 'The Muslim' daily, September 13-15, 1981, a paper respected for its independent outlook, which Senator Hussain edited for 5 years.
