19 army officers promoted to major general

ISLAMABAD: The Promotion Board of Pakistan Army on Friday approved the promotion of 19 army officers to the rank of major general, ISPR said.

Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani chaired the board meeting at the General Headquarters.

Sources said that on Thursday, professional aspect was considered in the corps commanders conference that led to the board meeting on Friday. The two-day corps commanders conference kicked off on Thursday at the GHQ to review professional matters as well as promotions from brigadiers to major generals.

The brigadiers whose name were sent for promotion are Brig Umer Farook Burki and Brig Shafiq of the Armoured Corps, Brig Mussarat Nawaz, Brig Naseer Ali Khan, Brig M Irshad, Brig Samrez Salik of the Artillery, Brig Akhtar Jamal Rao of the Engineering Corps, Brig Sanaullah and Brig Masroor of the Infantry, Brig Nasir Dilawar Shah of Aviation, Brig Arshad Mehmood of the ASC, Brig M Tariq Haleem Suri and Brig Omer Mehmood Hayat of the Ordnance, Brig Rehan Abdul Baqi and Khalid Mehmood Hayat of the EME, Brig Asif Mumtaz Sukhera, Brig Maqbool Ahmed, Brig M Ayub and Brig Syed M Imran Majeed of the Army Medical Corps.

After the approval, the list of the promoted officers would be forwarded to the Ministry of Defence for the allotment of ranks.
