Senate Defence Committee attends PAF passing out parade, lauds role of women and gender equality in Armed Forces

Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Defence and Defence Production, Senator Mushahid Hussain, along with Senators Sehar Kamran and Haji Muhammad Adeel attended the passing out parade of the Pakistan Air Force at Risalpur yesterday. The committee was officially invited to grace the occasion.

The members of the Committee appreciated the display of the cadets and their professionalism. The women pilots were particularly appreciated in this regard. Senator Mushahid Hussain and the members of the Defence Committee especially applauded the proactive role of the women in Pakistan Air Force, both as cadets and pilots, and termed this as a proactive demonstration of gender equality and equal opportunity for all in the Pakistan Armed forces.

During the meeting, the Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani also extended an invitation to the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Defence to visit GHQ and the troops in Waziristan. The invitation was welcomed and Senator Mushahid said that the Defence Committee would continue to act as bridge between Khaki and Mufti according to its mission and will protect and promote the role of the Armed Forces as an institution.
