Army Chief invites Defence Committee Chairman and members to visit Waziristan

The Senate Standing Committee on Defence and Defence Production was invited to visit the troops stationed in Waziristan by Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani when he met the Chairman of the Committee Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed and other members in Risalpur following the passing-out parade of Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

The invitation was accepted by the Chairman and other members of the Defence Committee. The Committee was also invited to visit GHQ in which regard the Chairman said that the Committee intended to visit the GHQ in December as per its work plan. He commended the coordination between Air Force and the Army. The Chairman also stated that the Defence Committee would continue to act as bridge between Khaki and Mufti and the Committee would also be the first line of Defence to protect and promote the professional role of the Armed Forces as an institution.
