ISLAMABAD, Sep 17 (APP): Senate Standing committee on Foreign affairs, Kashmir affairs & Gilgit Baltistan termed the Defence Committee delegation visit to Afghanistan a success and hoped that fruitful results will obtain from this kind of people to people contacts. The meeting was held here under the chairmanship of Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel including Jahangir Bader, Farhatullah Baber, Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Syeda Sughra Imam, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and Afrasiab Khattak here on Tuesday.
While chairing the meeting Haji Adeel said that in this visit representatives of five different political parties including ruling party and opposition were included.
He said that the leadership of both the countries were agreed that peace in the region is linked with peace in Afghanistan.
He informed that a friendship association was launched for people to people contact between both the countries under leadership of Senator Afrasiab Khattak.
He said that in its first phase 250 people including parliamentarians and journalists will go for three day visit to Kabul on October 26.
Afrasiab Khattak said that Afghan leadership had great expectations with Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to play role for peace in Afghanistan.
He stressed the need that the parliamentarians and political parties should be taken on board for peace.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Foreign Secretary, ministry of Foreign Affairs, Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry appreciated the visit of delegation to Afghanistan and said that the delegation presented the stance of Pakistan in very effective manner.
He assured that the foreign office would take serious note of the suggestion of the committee.
