Mushahid meets President of Albanian Parliament, calls for Parliament Friendship Group & civil-military training cooperation

Tirana (Albania), February 4: Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence who is currently on a visit to Albania, today met with the President of the Albanian Parliament Mr. Ilir Meta. The two leaders agreed on the need for promoting cooperation between the Parliaments of Albania and Pakistan. Accordingly, it was decided to establish a Friendship Group for enhancing contacts between the respective Parliamentarians.

SenatorMushahid Hussain extended an invitation to Mr. Meta to visit Pakistan.

At the Parliament, Senator Mushahid Hussain also met with the Chair of the Foreign Relations Commission, Mrs. Arta Dade and the Chair of the National Security Commission, Mr. Spartak Braho. Earlier, Senator Mushahid met with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Albania.

During these meetings it was underscored that both countries enjoyed excellent bilateral relations. However, the need for greater focus on enhancing economic relations, especially trade, including through exchange of business delegations was stressed.

It was also noted that cooperation in civil-military training offered an important platform for strengthening bilateral relations. In this regard, Senator Mushahid Hussain reiterated Pakistan’s offer of providing training to Albanian military personnel at military training institutions in Pakistan.

The Albanian side thanked Pakistan for its recognition of Kosovo in December 2012, which was a manifestation of the strong fraternal links between the peoples of the two countries.
