Senate Defence Committee to launch Defence Budget Media Manual today

Islamabad: Senate Defence Committee, under the chairmanship of Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, will launch Media Manual on Defence Budget on Monday (May 19) at Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS), Islamabad. Says a press statement issued on Sunday. "The Senate Defence Committee has always pride to promote civil-military relations. In the process, we have also promoted transparency in discussion on defence issues with an objective, above party lines approach since defence institutions must be treated with the respect they deserve given the extraordinary services and sacrifices of the armed forces and the security institutions while protecting the homeland through a professional approach.", said Senator Mushahid Hussain. The Senator emphasized that the manual of Defence budget is intended to serve as a primer for those who wish to familiarize themselves with the Defence budget process, adding it also gives a snapshot of how the Defence Budget is formulated. A media briefing on the defence budget is also scheduled at 11:00 AM on Monday (May 18) for the benefit of the media community at large and all journalists, particularly beat reporters covering defence and national security issues, are invited to join.
